OK…. so I find it hard to understand how someone who abused their power of office can get off without even a slap on the wrist.

BUT

I also fail to understand how someone who has been FOUND GUILTY OF ETHICS VIOLATIONS BY ABUSING THEIR POWER OF OFFICE thinks that they have been exonerated?

Is it possible that Sarah Palin doesn’t know the meaning of the word “guilty”? That she doesn’t know what an ethical breach is?

We’re in the shitter folks, if McCain and Palin win.

Exit strategies for immigration, anyone?

A snippet from: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/12/politics/main4516113.shtml

“Despite the finding of a legislative report that she had broken the state’s ethics law in the scandal dubbed Troopergate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said Saturday that the report actually cleared her of any “legal wrongdoing or unethical activity.”" (italics and bolding are mine…)

The Alaska state legislature yesterday ruled that Sarah Palin abused her power of office in her sacking of Walter Monegan, because he did not fire her ex-brother-in-law.

Palin denies breaking laws, and any acts of wrongdoing.

This says at least three things about her:

She has no idea what abusing the power of office means

She doesn’t understand that you can abuse your office without breaking laws, which is a MORAL issue.

And she doesn’t care.

We’ve already been through abuse of power with Dubya and Cheney. Do we REALLY want to start over with yet another VP who has NO clue what it means to be responsible in office? And a President who claims such a person is his “soulmate”?

Now, true, this was pretty low-level. A bit of a personal grudge used to deprive one individual of their employment and office. But isn’t that how bullying starts, one small victim, then a bigger one, then a bigger one, with a bigger “take” each time? First one individual, then a block of senators, then the American people and the Constitution?

I’m tired of being bullied. I’m tired of the constant efforts of our government making us afraid, taking our money, taking our rights, taking our voice.

It’s time that our elected officials did the will of the people, and stopped dictating what the people will do.

We start that path by keeping bullies and power abusers like Palin and McCain out of office, and finish the job by voting such incombants into immediate retirement.

More later as I can find it!

(The little screed below is a short comment I sent to the Obama team via their website. I cannot express how sad I am that the hope I felt during the beginning weeks of official campaining, even from Barack Obama (who would have then been my fall-back should Ron Paul not make the cut) has all but evaporated.

I do believe that the only hope this country has of surviving into the next century, perhaps even the next decade, is to reclaim the Constitutional principles that it was founded on. I believe that Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty is a step in that direction.)

“As a former Ron Paul supporter, now needing to make a choice between McCain and Obama, I find myself in a difficult situation. I do not believe that McCain would be a good choice for a leader, as I truely believe that his policies would plunge us into more debt, more environmental peril, more war, and the reintroduction of the draft and the loss of the next generation of citizens.

BUT

I also cannot put my support behind a candidate that constantly appears to snub and malign, at times appearing to specifically do so, my faith. As a Muslim, I now have no candidate that I can support, unless Sen. Obama were to make public overtures and front-page apologies to the hundreds of thousands of people that his “inclusive” campaign has made very public and front-page maneuvers to alienate.

Were the “Jesse Ventura” option of voting “None of the Above” an option on the November ballot, that would now be my choice. I have no confidence in either candidate. And that’s such a shame, since I was hoping for a change I could believe in.”

After a few years of blogging on religious, social and political matters, I’ve decided to spin my socio/political meanderings off to its home. As any of you who have read DefSufi, you know that I am a Ron Paul kind of gal. And so, I’ve joined in with the second phase of his movement, The Campaign For Liberty. If you’re interested in keeping your civil rights, getting BIG government off your back, and setting the country on a course that will make a difference instead of getting more of the same  we’ve had for the past several administrations, take a peek.  You might find yourself making a difference!

Wake up, America!

Oklahoma did today, and redeclared its rights under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.

When are YOU going to reclaim YOUR Constitutional Rights?
